Look Good Feel Better (LGFB)

Look Good Feel Better provides a range of free sessions, for anyone with any cancer. at any stage. It is time away from the world of diagnosis, treatment and recovery, to help you navigate cancer with confidence, feel stronger and live better

South Auckland Woodturners Guild support this initiative through making and donating Wig Stands. These wig stands are used by the people that have lost their hair when getting chemotherapy.

Our wig stand plan can be downloaded from https://sawg.org.nz/sawg/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Wig-Stand.pdf

Careful selection of finish is required as it is not desirable to have a finish that will transfer onto the wig, best finishes are lacquer of polyurethane.

All club members are encouraged to participate.

Kidz First/Middlemore Foundation

Every Christmas we make small bowls, toys and other small gifts to donate to the hospital as gifts to those in hospital over the holidays. These are wrapped on the last club night of the year, and then delivered to the hospital by some of our club members.

Butterfly Boxes

For families that lose a child to cancer there is a glass butteryfly made by local bead makers that is presented to the family. This was being presented in a small cardboard box. As a club we make small wooden lidded boxes for these butterflies.

Plans for Butterfly Boxes

Box, Butterfly #1
Box, Butterfly #2
Box, Butterfly #3
Box, Butterfly #4

It is important that there is the correct amount of space for the
butterfly which is 65mm dia and 20mm high.

All members are encouraged to make any of these items at any stage during the year, and bring them along to the club. Once we get enough to pass on the the charities we will see that this is done.
